The Hero 5 uses a new battery with a slightly higher capacity (1220 mAh) than previous versions. Despite older batteries not working with the new Hero 5, the power increase is a welcome addition if you plan on using the Wifi, GPS,or Video Stabilization features extensively.

First time turning the GoPro on you will set the language, date, time, enable/disable GPS, do a Camera Tour, and then your ready to shoot!

The Hero 5 feels like a solid little camera that's packed with a ton of features. I'm excited to begin testing them all out!

I shot this quick timelapse while driving down from Realization Point to Chautauqua Park in Boulder, Colorado. The GoPro was attached to the front hood using the GoPro Suction Cup Mount. This was the first time I tried out the Linear Mode. You lose a little field of view in Linear mode but it removes lens distortion in camera. A similar effect can be achieved in Lightroom  when enabling lens profile correction although Lightroom CC doesn't have a profile for the Hero 5 yet. I  processed the JPEGs in Lightroom and then imported them as a JPEG Sequence in After Effects. I tried a few different export settings but each one ended up looking crappy after uploading to YouTube.
